Includes personal letters, business papers, notebooks, legal papers, newspaper clippings, speeches, writings, biographical materials and photographs. The bulk of the papers cover the period between 1896-1902 in Alaska's gold rush communities of Circle City, St. Michael and Nome. Of special interest are the letters of Nora Kepner Crane describing living conditions and social life in the communities. The papers also provide information on the Weare/Healy operation of the North American Transportation and Trading Company operations in the gold camps of the time.
